Text Study:
Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength. So the Levites stilled all the people, saying, Hold your peace, for the day is holy; neither be ye grieved. And all the people went their way to eat, and to drink, and to send portions, and to make great mirth, because they had understood the words that were declared unto them.

(Neh: 8:10-12)

Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

( 1Pet1:8)

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

 (Gal 5:22-23)
Personal Definition: Joy therefore, is that gladness which emanates from the inner being of an individual that is not dependent of the outer surrounding. (Simply put – joy is inside outside not outside inside). It is apt to say that joy as a fruit of the spirit should be a product of one’s acknowledgment of his or her salvation (see Neh 8:10, 1Pet 1:8).

From the verses above it is worthy to note that joy is always associated with salvation.

Jesus Rejoiced in the Spirit:

In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.(Lu 10:21)

Rejoice :Agalliao  ag-al-lee-ah'-o meaning to jump or spin around for joy

Salvation: It means Soteria or Sozo in Grk that is deliverance from the hand of an enemy. There is joy because one has been saved from the chain of sin and death. (Col 1:13-14, Eph 1:7) see Rom 10:9-10 &17.

This Salvation is eternal (Heb 5:9, 9:12)

Why Joy?

1.      Because our name has been written in heaven/book of life(heaven at first not at last) Luk 10:20
2.      You have received eternal life(Jn 10:28-29)
3.      Because of the gift of righteousness and grace… (Rom 5:17)
4.      Because you are seated in heaven with Christ (Eph 2:6)
5.      Because we have become the temple/altar of God (1Cor 6:19)
6.      Because you have been made the righteousness of God in Christ (2Cor 5:21)
7.      Because you are complete in Christ (Col2:9-10)
8.      Because you have received spiritual blessings (Ps 32:1-2, Eph 1:1-3)
9.      Because you have become a son of God & joint-heir with Christ (Rom 8:14-15,17, 1Jn5-4)
10.  In (2Cor 6:14-16) you are given names and qualifications.

Note: You can only be a child of a family if you are born in that family:

Forces Militating Against Joy:

And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word  (which is the substance) of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. (Rev12:10 -11)

How to handle the accusation of Satan is to ignore him and continue in the race… Phil 3:13

Make sure you are found in the love of God (Jud 1:21, Rom 8:35, 38-39).

What do you do?

This unspeakable joy will cause you to as a matter of fact go out to preach the Good-News to everyone that needs it. You have to make heaven to rejoice as well. See  Lu:15:7, Luk 15:10.
You pray and heal the sick and cast out devils and restore joy in the life of people (Acts 8:7-8)
