Christ is Your Environment (Part Two)

Continued from the last episode:

This spiritual culture unfolds and exhibits some characters that produce a kind of unique disposition out of him, in that he is found demonstrating the qualities of the Spirit residing in him. These qualities are called the fruit of the Spirit which includes as Apostles Paul stipulated them in Galatians 5:22-23 and I quote “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.” The manifestation of these qualities from him is an indication that really his mindset has been reconfigured and made different from his old mindset. That is why the bible calls this man a new creation, which implies that he is now a creature that has never existed before, he cannot be linked to who he used to be. Therefore, one of the benefits of the law of the Spirit of life in Christ offers the believer is that his mind is renewed. It is the Holy Ghost that has the power to renew the believer’s mind by reconfiguring it to the standard He wants it to be. By this process, the deportment of his mind takes a drastic transformation that gaps the mouth of people in utter awe; because of what they see manifesting from him.

Actually, the believer is being evaluated by the product of his mind and because he is born of the spirit as stipulates here ““That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.”(Jn 3:6). This statement or quotation is an indication to express the fact that a believer can only be understood through the spiritual perspective and trying to understand a man that is in Christ through the lens of the flesh will give a wrong result. Let’s see what Apostle Paul says to the Corinthians and I quote “Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.”(2Cor 5:16). Those who knew Christ after the flesh missed Him and that was why they gave Him wrong identity, in the same way anyone weighing someone in Christ after the flesh will definitely miss him or her.

Furthermore, we have seen that one of the benefits the believer receives as he comes under the rule of the law of Spirit of life in Christ is that his mindset is totally reconfigured, though this process involves a continuous process until full maturity is attended. This process is called the process of regeneration; the man is now a regenerated man. The Holy Ghost who powers the life in Christ targets the mind of the believer to reconfigure it, so that his reasoning and ideology will change drastically to suite his new nature. This is very important because, the product of the mind of the believer will definitely be the result of the kind of life he exhibits and such life must be in line with what is obtainable in the Kingdom of Light. Therefore, where the inclination of the thinking or reasoning pattern of the believer lies matters a lot because by this, people will ascertain where he belongs and eventually if it doesn’t portray the Kingdom of Light something is wrong! Hence the advice from Apostle Paul that I quote “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” (Rom 12:2).

Here, Apostle Paul rightly points out that a believer should be ‘transformed by the renewing of his mind’ which suggests that the only way a believer can be transformed is by renewing his mind. The word translated transformed is the Greek word metamorphoo meaning metamorphosis. And we understand what is like when an insect metamorphoses, say for instance a butterfly, it is obvious that there is no resemblance between the maggot and the lava and even the full grown butterfly. This is what the life of the believer is like when he starts the process of transformation in Christ. There is no resemblance between what he has become and what he used to be.

Before I continue let me say something again concerning the quotation above, there is some anomaly there which suggests that the will of God is of three kinds; a perfect understanding of that verse by proper revelation indicates otherwise. What that verse in fact infers is that the will of God is always good, acceptable and perfect. Is not like there is a good will of God, an acceptable will of God and a perfect will of God as some schools of thought suggests. However, it is very important that the Holy Ghost works on the mind of the believer because whatever the output of the life of the believer will be, will definitely be as a result of what his mind produces. Therefore, the Holy Ghost patterns and construes his mind in order to function within the parameters of the will of God and as well gives him the ability to identify and concur that the will of God is always good, acceptable and perfect for him and in his life.

With this placement or platform of his mind, the believer will not find himself struggling to function in the will of God; I mean it will be very easy for him to accept rebuke, correction and advice from the Holy Ghost without struggling to do that. This implies that at this stage, the culture of the believer in Christ will easily be seen manifesting in him and he lives a life beyond the law. Once a believer’s mind is confirmed to the dictums of the Holy Ghost he is free from the entanglement of the law and as a result he does things or obeys not because his trying to avoid some consequences but this is the way he has been configured to live. So he starts living a life emanating from his spirit not a life that is piloted by his carnal reasoning or within his sensory realm. At this time, whatever the output of his life is not of his own making because he cannot truly say for sure that he is the one dictating what he does, and of course left for him alone he doesn’t have the withal to do those things but because something has over powered his will and nullifies his natural ability (Phil 2:13).
