MURIC Claimed They Induced The Ban on “This is Nigeria” by Falz

A controversial music released recently has been banned in Nigeria. The music captioned “This is Nigeria” was released by Folarin Falana and it drew loads of critics from different quarters. Many religious organizations especially the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) lamented the use of ladies wearing hijab and dancing in the video of the music. They termed it as insulting to Islamic religion and because of that they filed in a request for the ban of the music in Nigeria. Nigerian broadcasting commission (NBC) on the other hand while giving the reason for the ban of the music did not state that it was because of the request made by MURIC. In their reaction to the ban, they said it was because of a lyric in music that reads “This is Nigeria, everybody be criminal’’ that made them to put an end to the circulation of the music in Nigeria. As far as their regulations are concerned, this line is very vulgar and should not be condoned in the Nigerian society.

However, the news didn’t go down well with Mr. Folarin Falana and he has expressed his regrets, according to him it is sad that such music with a strong massage for the Nigerian society should be banned. Though the music has been banned in Nigeria, it is recording high number of viewers each day on the youtube channel.
